When it comes to leisure and recreation, Maidstone has something for everyone: sports, countryside, nightlife, shopping and much more!

Sports and Leisure

Maidstone offers an excellent selection of sport and recreation facilities, catering for all skill and fitness levels, from beginners to enthusiasts. Maidstone Leisure Centre is one of the best-equipped in the South East, with four swimming pools, two water slides and an air-conditioned Fit Zone Gym. The centre also offers a whole host of sports such as tennis, basketball and judo. Elsewhere further leisure facilities include Topnotch Health Club, The David Lloyd Health & Fitness Club, AMF ten pin bowling and a number of golf courses with a mix of both private clubs and public sessions.

Shopping

Already home to a wide selection of famous names and specialist shops, Maidstone’s town centre continues its dramatic transformation with a major new shopping development open in March 2005. The Fremlin Walk Centre is attracting all the top retailers including House of Fraser, Topshop, Zara and H&M and along with The Mall Chequers, launches Maidstone into the top 50 shopping locations in the UK, with more shop floorspace then Bluewater.  In short – Maidstone is a shopaholics dream!

Nightlife

Maidstone boasts a vibrant nightlife with a wide range of entertainment to suit all tastes, including stylish cafés, restaurants and bars, nightclubs, cinema, theatre and comedy venues.  Enjoy a relaxing meal, meet friends for drinks or dance the night away – the choice is yours! Alternatively why not visit the Hazlitt Theatre and The Exchange, which offer a varied programme of contemporary drama, live music, comedy, ballet and children’s drama or check out the latest Hollywood blockbuster at the 8-screen Odeon multiplex cinema in the Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre.

Countryside

Located in the heart of the Garden of England, Maidstone successfully combines its contemporary urban culture with picturesque rural landscapes offering a variety of leisure activities. The Maidstone Millennium River Park features idyllic riverbank walks stretching 10km along the River Medway from Teston to Allington, while Mote Park, an attractive landscaped park and lake located close to the town centre, provides a wide range of recreational activities including cycling, pitch and putt and a children’s play area.
