BBC rate Maidstone resilient to spending cuts

17 September 2010

The BBC yesterday released the findings of an Experian report which has rated all local authority areas according to their expected resilience to forthcoming public sector spending cuts,

illustrating how vulnerable places are to cuts in spending.

Maidstone was ranked in the top 40% of English Local Authorities for overall resilience to spending cuts, measured against a basket of indicators within the following categories: Business, People, Community and Place.

Maidstone was also placed an impressive 25th out of 324 English council areas for GCSE results. This ranking was highlighted in the South East edition of the BBC’s televised Spending Review programme, alongside Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge and Malling and hailed as a positive for the future.
