European Small Business Portal

18 February 2011

The EU has recently launched a new website with the purpose of helping to boost small businesses in Europe.  The portal gathers together all the information provided by the EU on SME's (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises),

ranging from practical advice to policy issues, from local contact points to networking links.

It aims to bring together business partners for mutually beneficial private sector partnerships ranging from production agreements to joint research projects.  It also highlights public sector contracts which offer opportunities for business and for those developing entrepreneurial social enterprises.

Access to finance is vital in order to start or expand a business, and the EU provides finance for small firms in different forms - grants, loans, and in some cases, guarantees.
To find out more about which type of funding suits your business needs a visit to their website is essential. (put the weblink in here)

Different rules apply to different sectors of SME activity, and EU policies targeting small firms' needs are sometimes specific to the different sectors which are listed within their website, to enable easy targeting of your specific interests.
