BT to upgrade Maidstone exhanges for Superfast Broadband
12 October 2011
BT has announced that Maidstone will benefit from the upgrade of 3 more local exchanges, as part of the latest phase of the company's £2.5 billion super-fast fibre broadband programme.
Households and businesses connected to the Barming, Loose and Maidstone exchanges will be upgraded in 2012, with super-fast ISP services to be available from a range of providers. More specific upgrade dates will be published on the BT openreach web site as they become available.
Blue Bell Hill and West Malling upgrades have already been announced and will take place in March 2012 and December 2011 respectively. Bearsted was enabled in 2011 as part of a trail blazing early rollout.
To encourage additional investment, local businesses seeking better and faster broadband services can fill in a brief demand survey put together by Kent County Council, which will help to prioritise future investment from industry and government.
