Making Kent Quicker: Superfast Broadband for Maidstone
15 February 2012
Maidstone’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Cllr Malcolm Greer, has welcomed Kent County Council’s Make Kent Quicker initiative and wants Maidstone residents to register their demand for broadband on the county’s www.makekentquicker.com website.

Cllr Greer says Maidstone residents and businesses can help drive the borough forward. “The council’s top priority is for Maidstone to have a growing economy with rising employment, catering for a wide range of skill sets. Access to fast broadband is essential for doing business, including the growing number of home-based businesses”.
“We have produced a map of broadband speeds in the borough which clearly contrasts the hot spots for broadband speed with the not and grot spots. If residents register their demand for faster broadband it will help to secure the investment needed to make Maidstone quicker.”

As well as being important for business and leisure purposes broadband reduces social exclusion so that more young people can complete homework online and more families can access government websites and other services online.
Maidstone Borough Council is working closely with Kent County Council to help deliver enhanced broadband solutions and options for local businesses and residents.
