Maidstone goes for Growth
At the meeting of Maidstone Borough Council on 14th
September 2005 the Council debated the future development needs of
the Borough and resolved that it would support:-
“Moderate growth through increases in housing at or above
current trends and quality commercial development including
allocation of selected new commercial development around the
Borough’s key motorway junctions to facilitate improvements to
infrastructure and improved prosperity, and additional affordable
housing with an emphasis on quality development. The Council will
give priority to expanding the provision of sites and opportunities
for the development of higher and further education in
Maidstone.”
The Council has informed South East England Regional Assembly
(SEERA) and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) of
its decision.
This decision provides clear guidance for preparation of the
Council’s local development framework. It demonstrates the
importance the Council attaches to securing a prosperous future for
both Maidstone’s employers and the workforce.
