A strategic plan to achieve a vibrant, prosperous and dynamic town and borough has been unveiled. The plan aims to achieve prosperity through sustainable communities that focus on harnessing skills through lifelong learning whilst promoting healthy, quality living in homes that are affordable. Cllr Chris Garland reinforced this by commenting: "To achieve these goals it is vital that we engage with partners, such as Locate in Kent, local authorities and our own County Council, through the Local Strategic Partnership." He continued: "Quality jobs and economic skills sets are the lynchpin of our economic prosperity." The Council endorses the need for growth point status and to achieve this sustained growth it needs to become a beacon of economic opportunity through projects such as the Kent Clinic and by attracting investors to Eclipse Park. Through the Local Strategic Partnership, the administration is committed to deliver an agenda of quality economic development; a viable transport strategy through Park & Ride; and the provision of quality jobs and skills together with the protection and enhancement of rural and environmental communities.
